Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) was born in Odense, Denmark. After moving to Copenhagen at the age of fourteen, he became an author. Andersen wrote many fairy tales that have been adapted into movies, plays, and ballets all around the world.

Don Daily illustrated many classic children’s books and anthologies. He also created posters for many films, including The Lone Ranger, The Great Santini, and Roots. Daily’s work has appeared in such magazines as Reader’s Digest, Cosmopolitan, and Good Housekeeping.

Christian Birmingham–often called “Christmas” Birmingham–is famous for his holiday titles, including A Christmas Carol and A Christmas Treasury. He has illustrated many other well-received books for young readers and has been short-listed several times for national awards for distinguished illustration.
