The latest title in the blockbuster series, BIRDS brings you up close and personal with eight different bird species in astounding motion.

Seeing is believing with the innovative and bestselling Photicular books, and now Birds gives readers a fascinating, up close look at bird behavior in living motion. The book features eight incredible moving images:  Penguins hopping, Grebes in an elaborate courtship dance, preening lovebirds, the blinking eyes of an owl, geese migrating in V formation, a hummingbird sipping nectar from a flower and  a mother songbird feeding it’s new hatchlings. The opening essay focuses on the incredible of birds and bird behaviors—the weird, the surprising—and birds’ incredible ability to learn new behaviors. And the profile accompanying each animal image includes information on each species. It’s an aviary that you can hold in your hands!

About the Author

Dan Kainen is an artist, designer, and inventor living in New York City. He is the creator of the bestselling Photicular books, including Safari, Ocean, Polar, Jungle, and Wild. While working with some of the pioneers of holography, Dan created a special spotlight that was used by Soho’s Museum of Holography to light holograms. The related field of holography led to Dan’s interest in lenticular art and, in turn, after nearly a decade of research and experimentation, to the creation of his “Motion Viewer,” his third patent in that field and the inspiration for Safari and the other Photicular books. Visit him at DanKainen.com.
