Jodi Helmer

About the Author

It’s taken Jodi Helmer a long time to find a place to call home. She grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada, but packed up her hockey bag and headed west after graduating from Trent University. She lived in Alberta, California, and Oregon before packing up once again and moving to North Carolina. Once the culture shock wore off, Jodi fell in love with life in the South. She has explored all corners of the state—from Blowing Rock to Ocracoke—and developed a taste for sweet tea and barbecue.

Jodi writes for various magazines, including Backpacker, Women’s Health, Shape, American Way, Woman’s Day, and Charlotte Magazine. She also is the author of The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference.

When she isn’t working in her pajamas from her Charlotte home, Jodi volunteers with a local dog rescue and goes hiking with her dogs, Molly, Milo, and Roxie.
